Senior Care for Total Health and Well-Being I have been involved with senior care for many years, first as a pastor in a mainline church, then as one who has helped a friend care for her aging mother, now as a teacher of senior yoga and relaxation. It’s seems easy to offer help on our own terms, but it’s more rewarding (for us as well as for them) and ultimately easier for us to meet our older friends where they are. Meeting an older person where he or she is means first of all being aware of his or her history.

New York (WiredPRNews.com) – A compound found in curry dishes may aid in killing cancer cells. As reported by Reuters, researchers found that the ingredient curcumin kills esophageal cancer cells, and could one day be developed as a treatment for eradicating some types of cancer.As noted in the report, Cork Cancer Research Center in Ireland scientists conducted a study in which they treated esophageal cancer cells with the compound and found it began destroying the harmful cells within 24 hours.

Joe Mirabella has given us permission to re-post this story. I think anyone working in the trenches for human rights will appreciate it. I think of my own late mom often these days - a registered nurse who started the first AIDS testing and support network in her region early in the epidemic, a time when people were refusing medical care and kinship to HIV+ people. She would have been 75 last month. Reading this, I know she and Whidbey’s mom were kindred spirits.
